The bird wrasse (Ghomphosus varius) also known as the bird fish which has an unmistakable profile. They are found across the Indo Pacific area and vary greatly in color on a regional basis. The female is brownish black, and the male is variations of green. The coloration of the sexes is so different they are often mistaken for two separate species.
The Bird Wrasse is a “jumper,” a tight-fitting lid on the tank is necessary. They should be fed a carnivorous diet, consisting of Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, shaved Fish or Shrimp flesh, finely chopped Shrimp, Squid and Mussels.
